Fit for Royalty

In April 2023, Duffryn Mawr Country House had the honour of hosting Their Royal Highnesses, the Prince and Princess of Wales. During their two-day visit to South Wales, William and Kate combined official engagements with moments of rest and relaxation. Their itinerary included abseiling with the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue team and planting a memorial tree in Aberfan. Nestled amid rolling hills, lush greenery, and complete privacy, Duffryn Mawr provided the perfect retreat for the royal couple to unwind and enjoy their Welsh escape.

The Royal Stay

The royal couple stayed in our Pen Y Fan master suite, where they enjoyed complete privacy and tranquility. The suite offers breathtaking views from its private balcony, separate his-and-hers wardrobe spaces, and a spacious ensuite bathroom featuring a stunning grand copper bath, the perfect blend of luxury and relaxation.

William and Kate joined old friends for an evening meal at our sister venue, The Bluebell Country Inn, surrounded by locals, choosing their food from the a la carte menu.

The Prince and Princess of Wales concluded their stay with a simple breakfast in our dining room, personally prepared and served by the Duffryn Mawr team.

Whether you’re planning a relaxing getaway or a wedding celebration, Duffryn Mawr Country House offers an atmosphere of timeless style, luxury, and elegance, a setting truly fit for royalty.
